Any 4.3 or 2.2 will fit into a S10 regardless of the year But: you must have the Computer and the matching wiring harness or it wont work. Example 4.3 Vortec With the spider intake will not work with a 4.3 regular intake. but will if you get the computer and the wiring kit for the engine

That requires the use of an OBDII engine scanner. The timing is electronic controlled and the OLD timing light will not work.
