I have a 1992 Chevy berretta 3.1 V6 and when it is in park and reverse and neutral it sounds like there is a grinding noise right below the shifter I know that the linkage needs adjusting any ideas
It is a 2002 Honda civic
OK. If you are sitting on a hill more than 15 degrees, if you do it will make that grinding sound. in most car booklets say on a Hill 15 degrees or more put it in neutral than apply the emergency break. and you do not need to be at any speed when putting it into park.
for starters it wopuldnt be the CV axles because they will only make a noise when driving. sounds like it is going to internal inside the transmition, like the gears not lining up right
you have got to make sure your not rolling
The noise you are probably hearing(if it happens everytime you change from Park to Reverse and to Drive is most likely just the selenoid on the trans. Chrysler managed to make that thing one of the noisiest on the road today. If it seems excessive I suggest having it checked, but "normal" is a 1/2 - 1 second "whaaaa" sound. Hope this helps! : i also have a dodge stratus 2000 that had grinding nioses when i wnet forward or reverse or just parked, if your break line is cut your motor mounts could be out, the grinding would be cause of the engine rocking back and forth i had to get new mounts and its costs me about 200 through the dealer and 500 for the breakline, but check all your motor mounts , all is good after!
Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park was created in 1968.
Inspect the Cv boots on the axles for tears. If no tears are found then replace the wheel bearing.
It is a switch that only allows the starter to work when the transmission is in neutral or park.
sounds transmission related or possable flywheel related That would be the power headlight motor!!
In park the park pin is engaged to prevent the vehicle from rolling away. In neutral there is nothing to prevent the vehicle from rolling away
neutral safety switch
sound like to me the starter solenoid is stuck the reason it does it in park is the neutral safety switch replace it and it should be fine
