You may have the gas valve selected to pilot. Turn the knob from PILOT to ON. It should fire immediately. If you have a wall mounted thermostat, make sure it's set to a point that calls for heat.
sit on it then throw it into a creepy cave
Pilot light alone will not produce enough heat to damage the tank, but the main burner will destroy the tank and possibly start a fire. Why would anyone want to leave the pilot light on an empty tank?
No reason why it shouldn't. You will find a black dial for the temperature settings, to light the pilot light, there will be pilot light start setting, press the black dial in and hold it, light the pilot light and hold the dial down for about 10 seconds. The light should stay lit, once it does turn the black dial to the desired teperature setting.
It probably doesn't have a pilot light. Turning the nob to the on position causes a click start - which is a spark that lights the flame. It's like most gas grills you buy today. Most furnaces are the same way now. Pilot lights are rather a thing of the past.

I think the Honda Pilot will start its 3rd generation for 2014 or 2015.
I don't know of any dryers that have a pilot light. They have glow plugs which glow red hot before the gas valve is opened so that the gas will ignite. If the glow plug is not working it probably has a crack and needs to be replaced. The dryer will not start without it.
When they start making a series, they don't know if it will be successful, so they broadcast a pilot and if that goes well, they make the rest of the series. I think some pilots do have proper names though, I don't think there's any rule that says it has to be called Pilot.
turn on ignition, dont start it. hold down brake and throttle pedal fully for about a minute or until light flashes. sorted
pilot
The alternator may be failing. Remove it and have it tested at an Auto Parts store.
