1st check for a clogged filter. It's on the driver side back near the fuel tank.
Then check the pump by turning the key on while you have the filter off. Be sure to capture the gasoline that may come out of the line @ 15 PSI.
There's a fuse for the fuel pump if it doesn't run, check your owners manual.
The fuel pump is in the tank and if it's never been changed there's a good chance that is the problem, as they do tend to fail after 6 or 7 years of normal driving.
It has an inline fuel filter connected to the carb via hose conection.
there is no choke its got an electric choke on the carb
Your 1990 would have throttle body injection, not a carburetor.
Broken fuel line? Carb.? Float stuck?
If its the 6 cylinder, its the carb according to most people I talk to. A lot of them recommend replacing the stock one with a weber (from ebay); good luck with that. On the other side, what I do is use a high quality carb cleaner, spray it right down the throat. Workds great for a while. Also check your vaccum hoses - when they're wrong, your idle suffers.
Carb.? At the front lower section of engine - follow the fuel line from carb. Fuel injected? In the fuel tank Carb.? At the front lower section of engine - follow the fuel line from carb. Fuel injected? In the fuel tank
Depends on the engine. If its the 4.2L the its a mechanical pump. It can be found on the passenger side of the engine block near the front. Best way to find it is to follow the fuel line from the carb to the pump.
there is no carb on the 02 jeep liberty, it is efi.
No fuel injection started in 1991. they took the 2.5 from the XJ actually in 1991 that's why it fuel injected. Yours is TBI or carb. The 2.5L should be fuel injected in 1989.

a quick way is to spray some carb cleaner around all the hoses and intake and listen for a rise in rpm, and if a leak is present you'll hear a sucking sound anyways.
Dirty throttle plate- clean with carb cleaner and/or dirty maf sensor- clean with electrical contact cleaner or bad throttle position sensor-replace
