2 main reasons they overheat, 1st and most likely if you are noticing that is is overheating is the cooling fins are clogged up under the blower housing. To clear this you will need to remove the top cover of the engine and clean the cooling fins. Most common causes are debris getting clogged and mice building nest on top of a nice warm engine. The second possibility is the engine is not being run at full speed. Air cooled engines are designed to run at full governed speed.
