Need more detail, make and model and year would help.
Most likely the vacuum hose is disconnected or broken.Does your cruise control work?Check this out :http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/fan-always-blows-defrost-selector-doesnt-work-830241/
The knob with multiple pictures is used to control where the air comes out. For example floor, defroster, vents or a combination of two of them. It works through the use of cables, vacuum or electric motors.
The rear windscreen defroster does not work. I have pressed the right button to defrost the windscreen when raining or cold
Hi, There are a couple of possibilities here. If you are not getting any air flow at all near the front windshield, then you probably have something blocking the vents or the doors that control the air flow are not working. If you have air flow, but it is taking a "long time" for the defroster to do its job, then the AC compressor is probably not working. The compressor is used in defrost mode so that it will dehumidify the air that blows on the windshield. If that doesn't work, then it can take quite a while for the defroster to work. Good Luck, Greg
First make sure your fuse to the rear defroster is good. Then test the wires that plug into the defrost bars on the rear glass, there are two plugs one one each side of the rear window.Take a tester and unplug the wires and test them for power, if no power you must have a bad connection from the fuse box to the back glass. If you have power and defroster still wont work you have bad defroster bars in the back glass, hope this helps you.
Is it the push button style climate control panel? If so I am having the same problem. I can not adjust where the air blows from because its not getting the signal from the buttons. Also the lights are not Illuminated and the rear defrost does not work.
What causes heat to only come out of the defrost and vent but not the floor of a 1995 S10 Blazer?
Pour warm/hot water on the windows. It works every time! If the defroster and heating units are working correctly I don't understand why the inside windshield would still be fogged up. I have a 2000 Plymouth Breeze and the owners manual says when using the defroster be sure the the vent control knob is turned to outside air position. Hopefully this will work. NEVER!!! EVER!!! EVEEEEERRRRR!!!!!! pour hot water on your cold windshield! The temperature change WILL pop your windshield.
The HVAC doors that control the airflow are activated by small vacuum motors. The system is designed to fail safe; this means that the system will fail in full defrost mode. So, knowing this and the fact that you have heater but no A/C or defrost you should assume the system has a failed control head (the part that you select functions with with button or lever). Or the doors are stuck due to an warped duct system (usually high heat related).
It is supposed to work that way. The AC is used to help remove excess moisture from the interior air so that the defroster can clear the window more efficiently.
sounds like the vent door that changes the air from defrost to heater is jamed its a little metel door like a flap.follow the cable from defroster switch and you should be at the door, its a manual door
Follow the wire from the defrost into the hatch. I found a 1992 240sx fastback which had a cut line.
