Why does the gas tank on your 82 El Camino build up pressure and sometimes will only let you put about a gallon or two of gas in at a time when you know the tank is about empty?

Start by checking the fuel tank vent for a blockage.There will be a line that runs paralell to the fuel tank inlet tube or hose.If it's not golgged or kinked then pull the fuel tank and check for blockage in the tank inlet.you might also try taking the fuel cap off and pushing a small hose down into the inlet all the way in to the tank. try this first...

You can only tell if the El Camino is a Royal Knight by the build sheet, the VIN number will not tell you. If you do not have the build sheet then there is no other way in telling. I have one and it is the only way I could tell if mine is a true Royal Knight.
