Either T&P valve is bad, water pressure too high, water overheated because of faulty element.
When you want to know when your hot water heater is broken, simply run your faucet and test the water. If it's cold, the heater is broken.
Yes. I would. If you are replacing the hot water lines, it is also a good time to drain the hot water heater and get rid of all the junk at the bottom of the hot water heater. That should be done once a year. Your hot water heater must be off when you do that, your hot water heater should be off when you drain your hot water heater. You will see boiler scale come out of your water heater. Leaving the boiler scale in your water heater makes it less efficient. It makes it harder to heat your water. It is the same as throwing money down the drain. If you want to give your money away, you should give it to the Salvation Army instead of the Utility Company.
It is called this as it heats up or brings up the temperature of cold water to hot. In other words, it is producing hot water by heating it. Some people incorrectly believe it is redundant to refer to "hot water" and "heater", but there are many other types of heaters, so the distinction of one creating hot water is entirely proper.
I'm assuming you mean a 'geyser' as in 'Hot water heater' as it's entered in 'plumbing' In this case it can get to about 150f ,where it will possibly blow off the pressure relief valve. -It's common and easy to adjust these to 120 -130 f.
it puts cold water in and pushes hot water to the top
If electric, the elements will blow very quickly.
Blow off valve faulty or expansion tank needed at water heater.
It is a water heater, not a hot water heater. There would be little point in using a hot water heater. I assume that is your point.

You can not get heat from cold water, The engine has to run long enough to get the water in the engine HOT. That is were you get heat from HOT WATER-- Coolent
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A HOT WATER HEATER.
It's called water heater. There isn't a reason to heat hot water
Leak in heater core. Replace core.
Yes. With no hot water circulating, the heater coil/exchanger will quickly cool down to ambient temperature and the fan will blow cold air into the cabin.
No water, if you drive and don't fix, the head gasket WILL blow! Don't ignore it.
It's because "hot-water" is a compound adjective, modifying "heater". It's not for heating water, it's for heating a house with hot water. There are many types of heaters that heat water, but only a hot-water heater is used for providing heated water for domestic use. A hydronic boiler also heats water, but it's only for use in radiators. The name "Hot Water Heater" is completely wrong for any use. There is no need to heat hot water. IT has always been "water heater". The term hot water heater has just been used for years because people don't realize the difference. It has always been WATER HEATER.The first answer is jibberish and makes no practical sense at all.
