In the book "Coraline" by Neil Gaiman, Coraline's mother is called Mel Jones.
Coraline returns to that other world to rescue her parents and the three ghost children .
she took the other children because she wanted something to love, and she took Coraline's parents because she had them in her clutches in order to lure Coraline back to the other world.
Because she wanted to take away her soul and trap it in the isolated room of the ghost children. First, she turns into a copy of coraline's mother. Then, Coraline insulted her, which made her turn into a thin, tall witch. At the end, she turns into a spider. Soon, Coraline escapes to the real world and found her real parents. The other mother broke her hand and Coraline's friend smashed it with a rock.
the conflict is that her fake mother has her real parents an shes trying to get them back
The hero in the book "Coraline" is Coraline herself. She is a brave and resourceful young girl who has to confront a menacing Other Mother to save herself and her parents. Through her courage and cleverness, Coraline is able to defeat the villain and protect her family.
The Other Mother
The Other Mother is like Coralines real mother exept better. Or at least that's what Coraline thinks. The Other Mother soon turns evil and wicked and traps Coraline behind a mirror so that Coraline dies and the Other Mother feeds on her. But at the end Coraline beats the Other Mother at her own game!Untill the Beldams (other mother) hand breaks off and Coraline traps it in a well! Cool Story huh? In addition, she probably is a mischevious, bad supernatural being summounded by the devil.
I read the book and loved it so.... She opened the door and went down the stairs to a 'parallel' universe almost the same as her old house/world. Her parents (or likely replicas) had sewn on buttons for eyes though but they were very nice to Coraline. Coraline still wanted to search for her parents though but wasn't allowed to escape back. She made friends with a cat who bit by bit told her clues. Her new mother though wanted to sew buttons on Coraline's eyes. The cat told her if this happened she would have to stay there forever and Coraline did not want to. Coraline has to make a big decision. What will she do?
