YOUR SPEED SENCER IS STARTING TO GO its located on the side of your transmission
Why does the speedometer on my 1998 cavalier drop a few MPH after some occasional shifts to higher gear? I.E. 3rd to 4th gear, speedometer would drop from 35 to 30 mph, without the vehicle speed changing, then go back up to vehicle speed.

It does not change the actual speed of a vehicle but changing tire size can affect the accuracy of the speedometer.
It could, vehicle speed is very important in shift scheduals
The speedometer.
The word speedometer is a noun. A speedometer is a device which determines and displays the current speed a vehicle is travelling at.
There is no speedometer cable on that vehicle. The speedometer is driven electronically.
no
Yes, but changing tire size affects driving characteristics, fuel economy, and speedometer accuracy among other things.
Could be a loose cable (connection on the back of the speedometer). In today's electronics on cars it's best to take it to a mechanic who knows what they are doing for the repair. You might want to save the money, but if you mess something else up trying to fix the one thing it might cost you even more.
