Why does the speedometer on your 2003 Ford Van stop at 37 mph no matter how fast you are going you changed the sensor on the rear end and it didn't help?

The problem may not be in the sensor. The problem could exist in either the the gauge, or something may have gotten stuck in the guage preventing the needle from going any higher. If something gets stuck even once, it can permanently throw your gauge off.

Most likely a fuse blown (#8, speedo) or the vehichle speed sensor (ABS speed sensor) malfunction. Sensor is located on top of differential.

why did you have to change the sensor in the first place? was it broken? are you sure you put the correct one back in? if so, are you sure you are running the same size tires that came on the truck when it was stock? an increase in tire rolling circumference will cause your speedo to be off like you describe. ==Respond== I changed the speed sensor because only the speedometer was broken, the tach and other gauges including the odometer worked great. When that didnt work, I changed out the speedometer cluster, now the needle moves, however its in accurate. I will look into the tire size, I bought the truck last month, so I dont know if the tires have been changed. Is it possible all I need is to ge the computer re programmed? ==Re-Question== The tire size is the stock size, I am thinking either it's the computer, which I have no idea how to diagnose it, or it could be the replaced speedometer cluster is faulty, no good. Does the Speedometer work? a friend of mine had a 96 2.2 4L60E and the speedometer didnt work and wouldn't go into overdrive but the transmission shifted all other gears and downshifted fine.. just now OD, he put a new Speed sensor in the tailshaft of the tranny and it fixed it

I have 3 possible solutions: first, replace the speed sensor. it is located on top of the transmission. if this didnt work, then try replacing the speedometer. last but not least, if all these failed, replace the ecm.
