All submarine screw shafts have seals around the full length of the shaft hull penetration area to prevent water coming in. Shaft seals can be mechanical, hydraulic, etc., but regardless they serve the same purpose.
Sometimes the retaining clips on FWD axles come off inside the transmission. Make sure the clip or ring comes off with the axle when you remove it. Some axles have factory recalls, be sure to check with the manufacturer of your car about "known issues". Hope this helps.
Your master cylinder seals are bad, and the unit needs either to be rebuilt or replaced. Replaced is better.

The ball very seldom is the problem it is the springs and cap washers
Are there still seals on pier 39 in Sanfransisco
If you take the driveshaft out of the transmission you will see a seal on the end of the transmission housing. It just pops out and you just drive the NEW seal back in with a SMALL hammer real easy. It is called a rear transmission seal. If it still leaks fluid after installing new seal, then the brass bushing inside of the tail shaft housing is worn. Replace bushing. Replace seal FIRST and if you still have a leak, then ask your question again. Thank you.
The car has only one transaxle, AKA transmission, then no, you cannot remove the tranny without removing the tranny. If you mean without removing CV Axle or drive axle or Axle shaft or CV shaft (same thing) then the answer is still no. You cannot remove the transaxle without removing the drive axle/CV shaft.
may not have been problem. remember you have a camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor but most importantly the timing belt alignment .if it is worn or jumped a tooth will give same problem.Let me know what you have done to determine it is the cam shaft that needed to be replaced ?
Once the drive shaft still spins in the transmission while being towed- its not good for the transmission to pull it too long. If the front of the truck is up- u can take out the drive-shaft to the rear wheels, only four 7/16 bolts to take out.
