I have the same problem on a 2002 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4, 6 litre engine. I have taken it back to the dealer numerous times. No faults is what I'm told each time. Finally the warrenty run out and still the same priblem. I turm the key sometimes 200 times before it starts??? Engine does not turn over. Realy clicks and that's it. It does eventually startbut it fuststrating. I changed the ignition starter relay still no good. I called around for a starter and a gentlemen at Joes electric in Edmonton Alberta Canada told me he theres factory defective starters out there, he keeps 20 starters for replacement. I got it for 180 canadien and so far so good??? Just for a bit more history, I have had the truck since new, it started failing to start when it had 9800 klms on it. it was very intermittent. Once in a while, but the od time it would not start for numerous tries(up to 200 turns on the ingnition. I took it to the dealer and they seem to just hook it to the computer and run some sort of fault test??? They never found anything, I don't thing they tried to hard. Once warrenty was up I new it up to me. it was good from may of 2005 and just started doing it again. Like I said above I changed the relay, no diffence and now have changed the starter. P.S my truck only has 72000 klms on it, less than 50000 miles. It been a problem and I'm not 100% sure I found it?
Answertake some good quality jumper cables and connect the ground terminal of your battery to a good ground on the motor or frame. you can do this right over the still connected ground cable. sometimes the ground cable can be corroded up inside the sheathing where you can't see it. that''l make for a poor ground.of course be very careful not to allow the jumper cables to arc or get caught in any moving parts when you start it.
i hope that helps.
the answer is the neutral saifty switch relays the starting signal to starter the neutral safety switch relays the starting signal to starter from ignition switch they look the same but plug up different make sure you have right neutral switch
Check fuses and relays. If you have power coming from the ignition switch but not getting to the starter there might be a bad fuse or relay or wire. Also make sure you have the wiring correct to the starter since you just replaced it.
first check all of your fuses and relays. you may need a new starter or ignition switch
the starter, altenator, battery, or ignition relays could be bad. have them checked.
The relays are integrated into the switch itself.
This question is confusing. Normally, solenoids do not turn. They are relays that provide the power to spin the starter when the ignition switch is set to ON. The only thing that I can make out of this question is that the starter does not turn. Cannot determine from the question if the problem is fixable or not. I would suggest checking out a repair manual for your application at your local public library. Or take it to a professional.
We get alot of no start questions, they are difficult to answer because there are many components in starter system, from the key to the ignition key to wiring to relays and the starter motor, oh yeah, the battery could still be the problem, a jump does not eliminate the battery as the problem
There's a set of relays on the passenger side of the engine compartment near the firewall. They're for the Fan Control; Blower Motor; AC Compressor; Fuel Pump; ABS and Ignition-Starter.
Faulty Ignition System. Dead battery. Dead Coil. Worn out Ignition "Wires" to Plugs. Corroded Battery Cable to Starter. Corrosion at Battery Terminals. Engine Ground Problem thereof eliminating complete Electrical Circuit. Blown Fuses or Relays. Faulty Ignition Switch. Hope one of these is it!! CHEERS!!
Under the hood & in the fuse box.
Flickering headlights on a 2005 Silverado may be caused by faulty relays or electrical wiring. The fuses and lights may also be going out.
There are about 8 to 12 or more relays on most cars, headlights, starter, FI relays, HVAC, and more, but most relays are usually in the underhood power distribution box.
