PS3 must be connected to a HDTV and the connection must not use the 480 I A/V cable that came with the PS3. It must be either HDMI or optional PS3 component cable and the PS3 must have the settings adjusted for the HDTV. To get full blue ray you need the 1080P HDTV
A DVD player cannot play a BluRay disc. A BluRay player can play both BluRay discs and DVDs.
