Your aiwa stereo is not meant to turn of when you turn it up. It is a glitch in the system, where it has been wired wrong, short circuited, or your stereo has been knocked and the wiring has gone wrong. How old is your stereo? If it is over 5 years old, it is most probably just worn out and, unfortunately, needs replacing. If not, what I have already mentioned are most likely cases. If this has happened withing your warranty time limit, you will either get a refund, or a replacement. I hope my answer will have solved your problems. Remeber, I give, as far as I know, legitimate answers. Your aiwa stereo is not meant to turn of when you turn it up. I have a 2002 Chevy S-10 pickup and the radio will stay going for about 5 minutes after shutting the truck off. But if I have the door open and turn off the engine the radio instantly is turned off. This is to save on the battery, the radio takes out the battery fast and then not have enough power to start the truck up. I have been there a few times myself.
Replacing a car stereo is not a difficult process. All you need to do is take off the face plate, unscrew the radio, and unhook the wires. Then place the new stereo in, hook up the wires, screw the new stereo in, and replace the face plate.

When your head unit is turned on, the auto-antenna wire sends a signal to your automatic antenna (meaning moves up and down as your HU turns on and off respectively) which moves it up or down. It works in the same way as the Remote Amp Turn-On wire works, which turns your amp on with you HU, then off when you turn your HU off also. Both are usually coloured blue, or blue and white on aftermarket stereo systems.
I just had this problem. i opened my stereo up and found that one of the three small glass fuses was blown. got a new one at radioshack today.

The molding around the dash area where the stereo has several hidden screws up under the cross pieces. Remove those and it should pop off. From there the stereo has 4 screws that hold it in place.
