It takes a little time for the vacuum to actuate the switch; especially if things are binding or if there is a vacuum loss.

Thanks It is a common problem on Mark VIII'S to have a loose connection at the power connector to the blower motor. If your blower motor does not run and the fuse is OK or has been replaced, fold down the glove box as in previous message. The blower motor will be faceing you,it looks like the top of a can with 2 wires coming out of it. Jiggle these wires with the blower motor on, most likly,low and behold, the motor will start up. It's a Ford thing.
