If the vehicle has a little bit of white smoke coming from the
exhaust and there is the smell of gas then it is possible that your vehicle needs a tune-up severely...it is possible that one or more of the cylinders is not firing correctly,or if you have a dead cylinder (one inwhich is not getting any spark) because of a bad spark plug or bad plug wire then that cylinder is not burning the fuel it is taking in, it is just passing the fuel mixture directly into the exhaust system and burning it causing smoke and gas smells.....the engine timing could also be off affecting the intake/exhaust valves and firing sequence.
On the more expensive side,it could be that the piston rings are bad and the bad rings are allowing the fuel to enter into the engine block on the compression stroke,which mixes the fuel vapor with your engine oil,The bad rings will also allow that very same contaminated oil to pass into the cylinders on the intake stroke and be burned out into the exhaust system..,,there is also the chance that a head gasket is also to blame...
