This can stem from electrical problems. It is hard to diagnose from so little data. But giving the problem, if it does this going from Neutral to other gears as well, then it is most likely a problem with your transmission or torque converter fluid pressure being to high. It can also be caused from an exceeding low engine idle, whos torque may not be enough to keep running when the trans applies pressure via the torque converter. It is advised to have it looked at by a licensed repair shop before costly damage is done.
well it depends if your wanting to go backwards then you put the car in reverse . or if your wanting to stop then you put the car on neutral.
I have the same exact problem.
You have to get the engine looked at.
Check your motor mounts.
You have to change the gear. It won't do it by itself.

Like any other car, come to a stop, clutch down and select reverse! Vauxhall cars have a lock on the reverse, lift the ring under the gearknob before attempting to select reverse or it will go into 1st.
Type your answer here... it is possibly a torque converter problem or transmission faulty
It's like putting it on, but in reverse.
