My cat attacks my feet when she senses that I am going to leave. She sees me getting my car keys, turning off lights and sees me putting on my shoes. Cats don't really see your feet or hands as being part of you. They think feet and hands are separate little critters. She thinks my feet are the problem with me going out. When I get back she rubs her scent off her whiskers onto my feet. I suppose it's the other side of the coin and she is glad that I came back.

cats can bite if they feel threatened as one of the instincts but they can bite to tell you no or to stop it

Because it looks like it might be fun to play with. Kittens will play with nearly anything, and quite often they don't understand that humans feel pain.
