Does it stay on forever? Or does it eventually go out?

Either the manual light switch is on or the door switch is damaged.
There are at least three reasons why your dome light may stay on while driving:Dome lights typically have three settings: (a) on while the doors are closed, to allow the driver to read maps, etc., (b) on while the doors are opened and off while the doors are closed, and (c) off, whether the doors are opened or closed. Check to see whether you've unintentionally left the switch on the a setting. If you've checked the a setting and if the dome light stays on, you may have a bad switch. The dimmer wheel, next to the headlight switch, may be turned up. Turn the wheel down to just below the notch.
the seat belt sometimes makes the light stay on
your dome light is set in the on psition it will stay on all the time. you can set it to door open mode and it'll turn on when the doors are open or you could have it off all the time. your dome light is set in the on psition it will stay on all the time. you can set it to door open mode and it'll turn on when the doors are open or you could have it off all the time.
Hey Eddie==Check the light switch to make sure it is turned correctly to keep it off. If ok, check the lighter fuse, as if it blows sometimes it turns the light on. goodluckJoe If your tailgate is ajar it will also cause the light to stay on.
Often there is a switch on the dashboard, or an "on" function to an existing switch, such as a dimmer switch. It merely needs to be turned "off" and doors closed, to watch for light going out, notwithstanding any timer or short convenience period.
To the right of the headlight switch is a gauge light dimmer wheel , if that has been rotated all the way up , your courtesy lights will stay on with the doors closed. If you also have a door ajar light lit up in your gauge cluster , then you may have a sticking door ajar switch , or something isn't closed properly

you either have a bad door switch, any of them could be bad. or you have the lights physically turned on at the switch.
The back hatch may be ajar.
The dome light should stay on for about 15 seconds and then go out as a courtesy light. If it stays on all the time you probably need to check the dash and turn it off. Usually the dash light dimmer rotates tp a point that will turn it off.
Check the brakers that are activated by the doors, if one of them is broken then the lghts will stay on forever. Don´t forget trunk compartment light if there is one or the light in the engine bay.
