Find where all your sparkplug wires lead to, one side of the wire will end up connecting to the sparkplug in the engine block, the other side will lead to a distributor or ignition coil pack, eather will indicate the cylinder the wire is hooked up to.
Count the sparkplug wires.

do a compression check on that cylinder. check fuel injector for pulse.

option one, look it up in the manual. option two, count the sparkplugs or sparkplug wires. option three, many vehicles have a sticker in the engine compartment, specifying the size and type of engine. V4 = four cylinder v6 = 6 cylinder i4 = four in line etc. If it's a diesel, find the engine model number on the door sticker, engine compartment sticker or sometimes on the engine itself. Google the model number, find the specs.
If you open the hood and can see only 3 spark plug wires: you have 6 cylinder engine. Otherwise you have 4 cylinder engine (you can see only 4 spark plug wires).
