I think it is to let you know it is on so you remember to turn it off. That way it will not kill your battery.
remove warning chime bell and doom light use meter to check voltage at chime supply in from fuse to chime bell and the dome light see if dc voltage go to 12.3 or 13volts you got a bad capcitor on chime bell or small ground on b+ after fuse or some thing pull 12vdc down step 1 check to if you get 12.8vdc on dome light first ,,after check for 12.8 at chime bell too ok /? check wires see if there good not fry but pop the fuse
If you don't have an owners manual then I would think you would disable them using the light switch. Try pushing the dome light switch twice quickly, you should hear a bell chime. If you hear the chime, then the lights are disabled. Push the dome light twice quickly again, and that should reactivate the lights and you'll hear the chime again. If none of this works, depress the park brake pedal a couple of clicks down, that may work.
one or more fuses blown
Fuse for the chime module or a bad switch for the door. Does the dome light come on?
First, check that there is a good, working, bulb in the dome light. it sounds like your car has the "Dark Car" option enabled, disable this option by performing the following procedure. 1. Look under the glove box for a blue connector with a single wire going into each side. 2. Pull this connector apart and tie both sides up under the dash. 3. Disconnect the battery negative connection. 4. Leave the battery disconnected from the car for at least 5 minutes. 5. Reconnect the battery to the car. 6. Test by closing the car door then opening it and look at your dome light. Your dome light and the key-in-switch chime should now be enabled.
Many rangers have a micro-switch built into the door latch that grounds when the door is shut. If the switches become dirty, they will cause the dome light, chime, and door ajar light to stay on. A few shots of contact cleaner should do them justice.
It can be something is on. As in, dome light, under hood light, trunk, glove box, curtorsey light, etc. Can also be a relay is stuck.
where is that located and how do I fix it. It is really annoying.!!!!!! the switch that shuts off the dome light and chime is part of the door latch and is broken
it's in the upper left hand corner of the engine compartment. the fuse also controls the dome light, door chime and rear defroster, i think.
The dome light switch on the dash is on.
it is located on the door pillar at the bottom. It is held on by a Phillips screw. If you are replacing it, try to clean the contacts first, that maybe all that's wrong. I know that if the contacts are bad the dome light won't come on and the bell wont chime if the key is in the ignition with the drivers door open
The "dome" is the light on the ceiling of your car. It is called a dome because this light is usually shaped like a dome.
