Your brake master cylinder uses a vacuum assisted module to increase the hydraulic force on the brakes while reducing the amount of effort the driver has to put on the pedal.
When you press down on the brakes, it employs this vacuum-powered diaphragm which "borrows" vacuum from the intake manifold. This initially causes a drop in manifold vacuum and thus you see this with a slight drop in idle speed.
It's more pronounced on bigger engines, and prior to computer controls and fuel injection it was actually QUITE pronounced. Smaller engines with fuel injection and computer control do not see this byproduct as much.
Check for a vacuum leak Check the check valve on the power brake booster
It operates a cable that goes to both rear brakes and pulls them on.
Lifted trucks are typically heavier than stock trucks, so it takes more braking power to slow them down, causing the brakes to wear faster. If you braker sooner and less drastically you can help the brakes last longer - and that goes for any car or truck.
no the car must use its brakes to slow down when it goes around a corner
Depends on how you drive it. At 60 MPH with the tailgate down and no A/C, I get about 23 mpg. At 70, I get about 20 mpg. At 55, I get about 24 mpg. Turn on the A/C and the mileage goes down a bit. Open the windows, and the mileage goes down a bit. Drive like a bonehead (speed, jackrabbit), and the mileage goes down more than a bit. Terrain and weather will affect it, as well as tires, tire inflation, maladjusted brakes, etc.
The spring goes down into the engine.
Press down on the left joystick button. If it goes to double a, then press it again.
The same way you do on a Freightliner, Volvo, Sterling, International, etc. If you don't have the certification, it's illegal for you to do this. Your truck should have automatic slack adjusters... with the truck aired up, press the brake pedal all the way in a couple times. This will cause the automatics to adjust for you. That is all you can legally do as far as brake adjustment goes... anything else is up to a tech.
press the blue one lightly until it goes down.
no power brakes....harder to stop
Master Cylinder seals are defective. Replace the Master Cylinder ASAP. Stop driving the vehicle until you have this repaired. The brakes can fail completely at any moment.
