vehicle stalls - what causes this problem many probs can cause stall a bit more info does it stall a stop signs does it run fine un til you stop and take foot off gas does it idle in park or neutral and stall when put in drive also need make model year and i could help you better
It might be a problem with your transmission because not all mx6's stall when you put it in drive or reverse.
If you mean each time you engage car in any gear forward or reverse & it immediately stalls - you have a bad torque converter. Start engine, put foot on brake, put car in NEUTRAL, if it DOES NOT stall, but it does stall if you repeat this test when you put car in drive or reverse = bad torque converter - It's called a "stall test"
Why would it stall or almost stall in Reverse but not in Drive? How long since it's received a tune-up and thorough check-up? How is the compression?
youre lifting the clutch up to quick
No, that would indicate transmission problems, is it a standard or and auto?
well it depends if your wanting to go backwards then you put the car in reverse . or if your wanting to stop then you put the car on neutral.
Check the wires on the coil. If a couple are swapped to wrong positions, the car will run, but immediately stall when put in reverse.
Have your side view mirror lined up with the first stall line of the stall you are aiming for, then turn immediately into the stall. This should put you in the center of the stall. Make sure your vehicle is parallel to the angled lines, and that you straighten your tires.
Symptoms of a bad converter vary. The vehicle may not move at all when in gear. The vehicle may exhibit engine stall when put into gear or may not have power during takeoff. Also shudder may occur when under load. Noise in the transmission when put into gear forward or reverse.
* cause it needs to be put in drive to go forward
Sometimes the torquconverter can fail causing the engin to stall. In reverse it lock in full torqu. In fwd gears it slips. This is only one idea.
