Because this is much easier for lazy people, although personally I think googling is easier. Wiki probably also has the attraction of non personal contact with people you don't know and the promise of possibly making new friends. For the same reason that you have. Why don't you try browsing some of the questions and answers. You may find something that you like. Answering questions here is like never-ending trivia. It's giving me something to do.
Google has lots of information, and in many cases it has too much. Someone looking for an answer, particularly one that is based on experience, has a much better chance of finding something more quickly here then on a search engine. Additionally, many technical questions are answered here in "English" instead of "Geek speak" or something else. The gift of "interpretation" is often richly supplied here while it may be in short supply at something like, say, Wikipedia.
OR
People are just lazy and stupid.
In truth, they either A) have not thought of searching using any search engine(such as google) B) Get some sort of reward as to making the question to others(such as forums based on using a posts based ranking system) or C) They wish to draw attention to themselves in a manner that does not seem entirely self centered, so to try to give you insight into how they think, they pose the question for others to answer in the hopes the readers will ask, "What kind of person asks a question like this?"
>>>Wikianswers provides a direct answers to a question. It does not direct you elsewhere for the answer. In addition many questions have been asked and answered. There is a good chance that the answer exists here.
This site provides a good way of obtaining first hand information from people that work in the area in question as well as getting personal experiences, something often missing from the plan encyclopedia type answers.<<<
*The above answer states..."Wikianswers provides a direct answers to a question. "
Providing a direct answer may be true, BUT the direct answer may very well be an incorrect one! Also, the answers here aren't instantly, if at all answered.
* The above answer states..."It does not direct you elsewhere for the answer."
Google can be setup different ways and doesn't necessarily have to direct you elsewhere although, in my own preference I like to have different options. If you google you are more apt to find more factual answers.
People come here to WikiAnswers to get a question answered because people get the human side of the answer on WikiAnswers, and it gets improved over time. By using Google, people have to search through numerous websites, hoping that a website has the answer to their question. Even if the website does have the answer to their question, it is impossible to add and improve the answer, so it's an 'as-is' answer. On WikiAnswers, you get the human side of the question, and it gets constantly improved for the best quality answer.
The chances are high that someone like you has already asked the same question, and the chances are very likely that it has a good answer to it, also. Not all questions can be asked through Google, like questions that have a lot of information that goes into the question. Google doesn't give the answer to your specific question, since it only gives you other sites, and you have to hope that other websites on the internet have your question. Plus, you can't do anything about Google if your question isn't there. On WikiAnswers, you can post your question to the WikiAnswers Community, and you can actually do something about the fact that your question hasn't been asked anywhere yet. That is why people use WikiAnswers over Google.
People use WikiAnswers, rather than a search engine, for a variety of reasons. This is not an all-inclusive list but covers some of the reasons people might use the site, because they: want a quick answer.
For more personal questions, people may:
Well I suppose they could but instead of doing a rediculous amount of reading to find a simple answer whay not get the exact answer without a lot of reading
I suppose they could, but instead of doing a ridiculous amount of reading to find a simple answer why not come here and get the exact answer without a lot of reading?
I hope you aren't asking because you are planning on making them... lol I saw something like that on CSI before, but I'm sure it was fake. Try searching this question in Google.
Probably some sort of cheating device, otherwise you've got to look for shinies yourself.Geez... Why don't people look up stuff on google or something before asking the actual question.
Perhaps when you're asking about something that occurred the day before today. For example, you might ask, "What did you do yesterday?"
That is a good question, before asking here though, ask Google or Wikipedia.. however this is a better question: WHO THE HELL WOULD WANT TO BUY A SATURN!?!?!?!
My tolerance level is about to break with people who can't be bothered to Google before asking a question. Sorry, it's tolerance instead of tolerant. :)
People using search engines like Bing or Google to answer questions here are likely to submit plagiarized answers.
People can be morons. I believe alot of the people on this site should turn to google before asking some of these questions, if the question is asked right usually wikipedia will even tell you the answer.
After the question mark. Example: "Where are the keys?"
before asking any question you should read first because in your question its required many answer and your question required in answer is another question what types of cds you are asking for.
please finish your question before asking it.
Please always check double or google before asking a question, already answered,See related linkhttp://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_are_the_major_network_infrastructure_requirements_for_installing_Exchange_2003
your question doesn't make sense. Study English before asking a question...
