The US has a widely enforced border on its southern neighbor, Mexico, way more so than its northern neighbor, Canada. This is mainly because there are large populations of people coming in from the southern border (not only of Mexican descent, but mostly of other Latin American ethnicities as well) crossing into the US illegally. In addition, Latin America is currently overrun with drug warlords, most notably the Mexican Cartel. This posses a huge threat to the US, so the US has to do everything it can do to prevent these people from coming into the US, of which they would most likely do so illegally.
