This increase adds stress on the clutch increasing the failure rate. The second issue is use, These units tend to be used more often for heavy use. Finally in North America proper operation of a manual shift transmission is becoming a lost art. In my opinion if I can tow 17,000 pound trailers and my DMF clutch has 400,000 kilometers (250,000 ish miles) anyone can keep these alive with proper use.
