either clean and tighten cable connections or get battery tested. if not the battery, it is the solenoid or the starter If it is clicking and not starting at first, but starts after a few tries, its your starter taking a dump. Replace it.

Why do i hear a clicking noise when i start my car?

If you mean the car will not start or even turn over when you turn the key, that 'clicking' is the starter solenoid making contact like it's supposed to. But there is not enough power from battery to start engine, only enough to make contacts in solenoid. Bad battery, or loose or corroded battery cable terminals

What if battery terminals are cleaned and key ignition still makes a clicking sound?

Battery is dead or you have a bad solenoid. Connections at the solenoid and/or starter could be loose or corroded.

2001 Ford Excursion v-8turbo diesel that will not start When you turn the key you get a clicking noise What might be the problem?

clicking noise when u turn the key to start is either a bad battery or bad battery connection or the starter needs replacing rule out the solenoid, as the clicking you can hear comes from the solenoid

What if your car makes a clicking sound when you try to crank it?

If your car makes a clicking sound when you try to start it, try to jump the battery. If that starts it, check the electrical system and if it was the battery, replace the battery. If jumping it does not fix it, have a mechanic look at it.

Dodge Durango won't start battery ok clicking noise but then stopped clicking?

check your battery then the connections if it still wont start try changing the starter solenoid if possible

Will a bad solenoid make no noise when you turn on ignition?

If your battery has a full charge, and NO noise is heard. It is most likely a lose or broken wire from the battery to ignition switch or from ignition switch to solenoid. A bad neutral switch may also be the problem or a blown fuse. A clicking noise would indicate bad solenoid contacts or a low battery charge. Although the a solenoid may be at fault, the other reasons are more likely. Note: On cars without automatic transmissions, check the clutch interlock switch.

Why does your starter just make a clicking noise?

If it is a single click, the problem is either a loose battery cable or a faulty starter relay/solenoid. If the symptom is rapid clicking, the battery is probaly low.

What might be wrong if a 2000 Acura RL will not start. There is a clicking noise coming from one of the relays and the battery is fine?

Check the starter solenoid, starter ground resistance, and voltage out of thesolenoid when activated. If the solenoid is not clicking then the issue is either the relay or the fuse to the solenoid.

Car won't start only clicking sound but will start after repeated tries?

looks like the starter motor. the clicking sound appears to be the solenoid on the starter motor. when you turn the ignition, the solenoid click and its supposed to make contact to the motor. if the contacts are dirty, then the car won't start. repeated clicking will eventually make a little contact allowing the motor to turn. try changing the starter motor or servicing it. you can do it urself. remove the motor and pull the solenoid out. clean the brass contacts. they should be under the connections where the wire from ur battery connects. if it seems to be too much work, just get the motor replaced.

What would cause a clicking noise only when lights are on and engine does not start?

Weak battery? Loose or corroded battery cables? Starter solenoid?

What causes a clicking sound and the car not to start when the battery is charged?

Then your battery is still not charged. The clicking sound is the solenoid that has a little gear on it that engages with the ring gear of the engine to spin it. There is a certain amount of voltage needed to push that solenoid into the ring gear and your battery isn't putting out enough. You'll need a jump to get started and then need to consider the battery.

What does the clicking sound from the solenoid mean on an Oliver tractor?

Could be low battery voltage, a poor connection(s) of wires, a bad starter, or a faulty solenoid.
