Many aspects should be take into consideration. The Country is developing itself and making same mistakes that other countries did in the past or still doing today, like USA, Russia or China, big aggressors of their own environment and our planet. Brazilian Government is incompetent to enforce its own policy's and fund resources to protect the forest. In the other hand, the industrialized countries in Europe as well as Japan and USA pay high price for noble timbers cut off from the forest, legally or not. Mining is also another destructive force in the rain forest, tons of gold are smuggled to Dubai and worldwide, multinational corporations are there after other minerals to produce aluminum. Poor neglected farmers need clear the land to grow crops and raise cattle. Wild life, fauna and flora has been systematically exploited because its value in scientific researches by developed countries around the world. Every one of us, aware or not, is somehow benefiting from the rain forest destruction, there is no exception here, we live in a globalized world. If you add greed, poverty, incompetence, corruption and hypocrisy in global scale you got your answer. (Tuna Stra)
The rainforest is deforested for many reasons. One reason is for corporations to make money selling the wood. Another reason is so that the land can be used in that area, either for ranching or for further development, such as building factories or businesses.
Brazil is a poor country and the rainforest holds immense riches for mining and the trees can be sold for timber. They have also built roads for easier access to these resources. So basically they are exploiting the Natural Resources, but because of the rate of this, it could lead to the rainforest in Brazil being completely wiped out.
To get the profit from selling the wood and create suitable land for farming.
