Why is Cid Highwind in Final Fantasy VII so much skinnier and better-looking than the Cids in other Final Fantasy games?

They have the same names but they're all different people. The name Cid is just like a recurring gag in every Final Fantasy game, like chocobos and moogles. So Cid is in a completely different universe and is a completely different person in each Final Fantasy. There is no connection with any of the Cids, they just share a name. IDK Graphics???
