We don"t know that much in her own time. Posthumously, well she is one of the most popular tragic female historical figures. Plays, Movies, TV dramas- even an Opera have been done on her tragic life and death. So far no opera has been done on Anastasia but the idea is surely latent.

Uh... yes!!!!!

If you haven't heard of her, look her up!!!

and yes, i know that are looking her up but you asked the wrong question okay?

Seriously, you should have heard of her, and if you have then you should know why she was famous

Okay, I'll give you a potted history, but don't rely on this as a valuable source okay!?

she became Queen really young

King Henry VIII wanted her to marry his son and the king of France wanted her to marry his son

she chose France

this sparked off anger between England and Scotland that already existed because England was Protestant and Scotland was Catholic

England invaded Scotland in what's known as 'the rough wooing'

Mary's husband in France died, and so she returned home to Scotland

she then calmed down England and her cousin Elizabeth (Queen of England)

Mary married Darnley, which proved to be a big mistake as he was a total flirt and really annoyed all of the Scottish Nobles except from a few whom he spent his evening with anyway

oh, by the way, he had Syphilis

Darnley was murdered, possibly on Mary's orders. we really don't know, however, there are lots of books on the subject if you're interested such as John Guy's "My Heart Is My Own'

Mary, a Catholic, was over thrown from Scotland and so ran to England and her cousin

unfortunately, Elizabeth thought that Mary would try to over throw her and imprisoned her

Mary attempted to escape, but was caught and promptly executed on the 8th of February 1587

she is famous because everything went wrong for her really!
