Because Moses played a big part in the Israelites getting away from slavery. Their used - to - be slave owners were the Egyptians.

In the Old Testament book of Exodus you can read the history of Moses and the Israelites. Moses was used by God to lead the Israelites out of their bondage to the Egyptians. Read the book of Exodus in The Bible and it will explain.
