As one of three national parks in Wales, it is a favourite of British hikers, nature lovers and walkers. There are some tourist facilities available, including information about the history and park itself.

It is also home to Mount Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. As such, this mountain is often climbed as part of the 'Three Peaks Challenge', an aim to climb the highest mountain in England, Scotland and Wales, in under 24 hours.
