Best Answer

Because of the presence of hemoglobin in our blood.

Human blood is red only when it is oxygenated, meaning oxygen molecules have bound to hemoglobin in the red blood cells after the blood passed through lung tissues. Blood where no oxygen is bound to the hemoglobin will be blue in color.

Inside the body, blood leaving the lungs is bright red because it is freshly oxygenated. Blood returning from various parts of the body to the lungs will be blue because it is is devoid of oxygen.

Blood from a cut or wound is always red because oxygen in the air binds with the hemoglobin.

Human blood is red due to the presence of oxygen-carrying, iron-rich hemoglobin in the red blood cells.
