the motor car was first invented in the 1820's and was chose over the electric motor because the engine was a lot cheaper and didn't have much work to create the fuel. This started the use of it everywhere during the industrial revolution and the demand for oil rose. Gas or gasoline is made from refined oil and crude oil or petrol is made from fossils. When the dinosaurs died millions and millions of years ago some of these were compressed; some of these compressed and preserved as fossils were heated and mixed with mud and were changed to oil. This process takes a very long time and there is only a limited amount of oil in the world. When the oil is burned it releases carbon dioxide which goes into the atmosphere and causes the suns rays to be trapped in the atmosphere. This is called the Greenhouse effect, this is similar to putting a lid on a pot of boiling water. Currently the Earth has heated about 1 degree. This may not seem like much but the earth only cooled 6 degrees to trigger the ice age. Imagine what would happen with the earth heating 6 degrees. Renewable resources are important because without them the earth would continue to rise in temperature and would destroy life as we know it. The problem isn't so much as developing technology it's just since the time of the motor our world has been based on oil and it's hard to make the entire world change on a dime. Also 3rd world countries (underdeveloped countries) would prefer to feed their families than not destroy a tree (trees change carbon dioxide to oxygen essential to help). Already we are beginning to see the world change because of these effects. A drought in the amazon(2005) destroyed 2 million square kilometers and just this year(2010-11) there was a drought that destroyed 3 million square kilometers of trees. Now instead of absorbing CO2(carbon dioxide) they will be emitting it causing the earth to heat even quicker. There are many other reasons to use renewable resources but another reason we aren't making the switch is because of the cost and this is another major reason. If there was a more efficient and cheaper source of renewable source of energy most people would jump on the idea. Though there is efficient motors the process wastes 80% of the energy through heating the car and engine. Until we develop something we won't be able to do much to stop it.

Why is it important to develop renewable sources?

It is important as in less than 30 years there will be no more oil, nor any other fossil energies. That's why

What new technology such as renewable energy sources has many positive aspects such as?

jkjkk

Why is sustainable energy important?

Because non-renewable sources are...well...non-renewable? They won't last forever. Renewable resources can be renewed. Congratz

Why renewable energy sources are important?

Renewable energy sources are important because they are clean. They release no carbon dioxide, so they have no effect on global warming. Our continued reliance on fossil fuels for energy is harming the environment.

How sustainable are renewable sources?

Most of the renewable sources are renewable as they are not made by mad but through natural means. The most common renewable sources include solar, wind and water among others.

Why are renewable energy sources needed?

Because if we use renewable sources, it's with us forever. fossil fuels and non-renewable sources will run out someday.

How can heat engines work if non renewable sources are not available?

By using renewable sources

Will renewable energy sources run out one day?

If we run out of wind energy then we will have bigger problems.

Is sound a renewable or non renewable sources?

yes it is renewable resource.

Which energy sources are more suitable for meeting our requirements in the near future - renewable or non-renewable?

Non-renewable energy sources would be most suitable in meeting our requirements in the near future. Currently, there are still relatively enough fossil fuels for us to use. Also, research and technology in renewable sources of energy needs more time to develop, since we are not very advanced with these at the moment. However, in the distant future, when fossils fuels are about to be fully exhausted and when research and technology in renewable energy sources develop to a large extent, we will be able to use renewable sources of energy in meeting our requirements.A:We have to consider the huge amounts of carbon dioxide emitted by non-renewable energy sources, which are most unsuitable NOW. We cannot keep on using them till they run out. We have to develop renewable energy sources, and urgently, to try and slow down the rate of global climate change.A:Carbon dioxide issue aside, we can't use fossil fuels indefinitely. We have less then 1000 years left of this fuel. Most of this is within the United States, but expensive to extract. Nuclear is the only honest alternative for many reasons. While non renewable nuclear emits no carbon dioxide and has little real waste.A:The solution to our future energy needs lies with renewable energy. This form of energy not only helps us clean up the environment, it also creates green jobs.A:Currently there are no "renewable energy" sources that provide any reasonable amount of power or provide steady power. Wind, as an example, provides zero useful power when you consider the backup plants needed to support wind variations. While it is agreed we have less then 1000 years of oil left, the ONLY honest alternative we currently have is nuclear power. While the rest of the world builds these plants and become energy independent, one country is left decades behind using old technology. The saddest part is they do so at their own peril.

What is another word for renewable source?

the answer for renewable is sources

Why do scientists think you should develop the use of renewable sources of energy?

Fossil fuels, our primary source of power, will someday run out. As a result, we need to develop other, possibly safer alternatives.
