Why is it hot in Latin America?

It is just a common misconception. Latin America includes all countries south of the United States; as such many people consider them to be "closer to the equator" and therefore, hotter.

Latin America has mountain ranges with snow throughout the year, as well as some areas that are on the equivalent southern latitudes -- and climates -- as those of the northern United States and Canada.
