Because the Catholic church wants you to believe that priests are to be considered Jesus in human form. But, as I think we've all heard, recent events have proven that not to be the case. == The Church and priests may not be questioned when they dutifully transmit the correct deposit of the Faith. Even in matters not so determined, a priest holds a very respected office in the community and is given the obedience one gives to a superior. When a priest says something that contradicts Church teaching, then it is time to be discerning and question. When a priest acts against the dignity of his office, then it is time to ask questions. Even when questioning a priest's actions or teachings, respect should be maintained out of respect to Christ, Who the priest represents and acts as when performing his priestly functions. Your respect reflects back upon God in the way you address and treat His ministers - His ministers will be held accountable, if justice is not had in this life, then it will in the next.
