I dont know why this happens, but to help...you can put your MP3 files onto a flashdrive which you can plug into your Xbox 360 and at the XBOX home, you can edit songs and play them while you play your game.

How do you play your ipod through your xbox 360?

Note: This will NOT work with an iPod Touch or iPhone. Some songs may not be compatible with your Xbox and recommend downloading the media update in the marketplace. Take a regular iPod sync chord, plug the usb part into the usb input on the front of your Xbox and plug the other end into your iPod Classic, Nano, Shuffle or whatever else it may be. Then go to the "My Xbox" tab at the Dashboard on your Xbox and then scroll right till you see the Music tab and click on it. It will then bring up all your memory units that are currently plugged in to your Xbox. Click on the one with your iPod name and scroll through whatever playlists and folders that are on your iPod and enjoy. However, some songs' format may not work on your Xbox and to allow most of those songs to be played, you should download the media update in the Xbox marketplace. No worries, it's all free.
