Those who published the books may not have realized how important the Influenza was. Over time more accounts from around the world would be found and the availability of information by internet made it hard to ignore with the newer texts. Once they realized how many people it killed worldwide it again was recognized as an important fact. Influenza killed more than twice those lost during the war.
