Why is moscow colder than London in the winter and warmer in the summer?

The tilt of the earth in summer is sufficient to expose the uppermost latitudes to the sun for twenty-four hours resulting in a months-long day. Of course, all is reversed for the southern hemisphere.

It's due to the fact that the Earth is not parallel to the Sun, its rotational axis is tilted and as it orbits the Sun the Earth's tilt causes the northern hemisphere to tilt towards the sun, then the southern hemisphere... summer takes place during December, January, and February (in the southern hemisphere) and during June, July, and August (in the northern hemisphere.)

Whilst, winter is the opposite and is during June, July, and August (southern) and December, January, and February (northern).

In winter it's more common to snow (or usually rain, like in Australia and other hot places) while in summer it's higher in temperature and rarely rains.
