== Bad bearings?
Loose wrist pin?
Only happens under extreme engine load? == Predetonation
Running hot?
Timing too far advanced?
Fuel octane rating too low?
Could be EGR valve sticking open or dirty at an idling condition or hesitates when accelerating.
DOES IT HOLD GOOD OIL PRESSURE WHILE HOT AND IDLING? SOUNDS LIKE MAIN BEARINGS.
Have it checked for codes, and diagnose the code.
Replace the Idle Air Control Valve only about $50. This would cause funny idling and stalling out.
A car that is stopped with the engine running.
Could be your timing belt.
water in the fuel can cause an idling motor to sputter and/or die.
DONT DRIVE HER! I did...and she dropped a driveshaft. Tow her to a trusted shop and have them check out the drivetrain. Good news is your engine should be a solid s.o.b!
yes
Lucas (oil additive) it and pray..if its a rod just drive it easy..if it is spark knock use better gas. answer the door sorry bout that, but if engine is knocking is it at idle, under load,etc knocking can be caused by piston slap,(worn out rings),bad bearings,or simply have engine tuned, all depends where knock is coming from
Locate the sound, if it is high up on the engine it will most likely be the lifters, pretty common with the 4.0, you can quiet them down by using oil additives, but if it is low it may be a wrist pin knock, this will also happen and get louder when driving, and should be dealt with immediately.
check the engine mounts
