my 1990 mercury marquis transmission is slipping in overdrive what do i need to look for and how can i fix it
The transmission ( or transaxle on your front wheel drive Mercury Mystique ) is in the engine compartment bolted to the engine ( on the drivers side of the engine )
It is actually inside the transmission itself. You get to it be removing the transmission pan.
take it to authorized transmissions
I believe it is only accessible by taking apart the transmission in the Mystique.
This happened to me today on a major highway. The Ford garage told me it is a transmission problem. Check transmission problem solutions here in this blog. Solenoids, etc. It means your transmission is slipping, that happens in a lot of mercury mystiques. not all true there is a throttle position sensor or T.P.S. on your throttlebody try that its way cheaper than transmission
my son bought a 1996 cougar that felt like the transmition was slipping and we had the transmission flushed and it fixed it.
I don't think so.
I have a 1998 Mercury Mystique LS automatic w/ a 2.5 liter V6 and it takes Mercon V transmission fluid. I'm not certain if it is the same for you, you should probably consult your owners manual.
You can adjust the clutch pedal free play but not the clutch itself.
im wandering where the transmission filter is on my 1996 mystique with a 4 cylinder.the filter has to go inside somewhere but not sure.if this is free it would be a huge help.perry
where is the thermostat at on a 2000 mercury mystique
