Because it's historically the more developed, less corrupt part of the country. Besides Rome in central IT and Naples in the south (which is basically still controlled by organized crime) every major city including the financial center Milan are in the north. Not only that, but there are more Natural Resources and geographical proximity to ship goods to the wealthy nations of Western Europe (Swiss, Austria, Germany, France, Spain, UK, etc).

The north has better land for growing crops, better climate, more industrious people more natural resources and hydroelectric sources.

This is because the north has better roads compared to the south and the best farmland to grow fruit and veg. Also, the industrial triangle is in this area and is good for large factories and large areas of farmland.

Why the north is better than south Italy?

It is because the North is more prosperous than the South which means it is better industrialized and much richer and overall just better. It offers a variety of jobs with good wages and the environment is much safer (it doesn't get as many earthquakes and torrential weather). There's more developed farmland and more useful equipment. The industrial triangle is also in the north (an area with better jobs and industry). hope this info helped!! :)
