If it's made by man it's going to stop working eventually. They wear out/burn out. Not necessarily at the same time. The other two could go tomorrow or last for years.
On a 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis with the 4.6 liter SOHC , V8 engine : There are ( 2 ) coil packs with ( 4 towers on each ) They are located at the front area of the engine , just follow the spark plug wires to each of the ( 2 ) coil packs
A 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix (with either the 3.1L or 3.8L V6 engine) has 3 coil packs. (Each coil serves 2 cylinders). Note however, the coils for the 3.1L and 3.8L are different.
The ignition coil is down between the firewall and the back of the engine
It is on the right side of the engine cover where your spark plug boots attach to the coil packs. It's that little metal box the connector goes into.
Under the aluminum cover on top of engine there are 2 coil packs-pull them up off of plugs.
If the engine has "coil packs" then its has to. Does your engine have a distibortor cap or coil packs?
it doesnt have a distributor cap. it has a coil pack AND...the coil packs are located under the cover on top of the engine.
Under the engine cover that says "series two". look between the the fuel rail and the valve cover, right where the engine fire usually starts. near the coil packs
at the top of the engine where you will see 3 packs.. each contain ignition coils to spark each cylinder ..easy to replace.. go on eaby to purchase.
If your engine has coil packs it will have one for each cyclinder. There are still a few engines that use just one coil but most use coil packs these days.

if its a single overhead cam engine it has spark plug wires and dohc engine has coil packs
