You can put that down to evolution and the survival of the species. That's all. The male is the protector and defender of both his bit of space and his progeny (fry) and he will not permit others of his gender and species to be in his space.
They will both eat about the same.
Female bettas can be colorful, but males tend to have larger fins that they flare, as well as more vivid colors.
Male Bettas have more colour, are larger fish and have much larger fins than the females.
yes bettas do fight for the woman that is y u only puts one male and one female in a tank together. but no more than one male.
Male bettas have a long tail fin, and they are brightly colored; more so than the female which is a dull color. She has a short tail.
That is more than enough room for those bettas. :)
Betta's are pretty good with other fish, it's rare that they will fight, maybe with other betta's
Yes you can buy female bettas. the females have small fins and are smaller than the males. also the males usually are more colorful than the females.
No, probably not. The males would be more likely to kill the females.
no it will kill another male for domanancy Yes, the male will most likely kill the female. This is not always true, though. When mating they will be vicous (in most cases) but not kill each other. Any other time it is not ideal to stick a male and female betta together. -Raz
They become closer if the male is mating with the female, unfortunately Siamese Fighting Fish (males in particular) are pretty aggressive, they can eat their own fry (babies) and attack their mating partener. So i would get a community tank, get 2 or 1 female(s) and 1 male betta with some corydoras catfish and everything will be dandy!
Not necessarily. The female has a gene pool too. Genetic inheritance is a lot more complex than the colour of fins etc comming from the male.
