Normally on these b series trucks the check engine like might come on due to the egr valve being dirty or time for service. There is a green and white plug on the truck under the dash(kick panel side) above the flasher relay and door chime. The green plug may be hanging there close to the white plug that is hooked up.Simply unhook the white plug from the connector and swap the green plug to the original plug and in most cases the light will reset and go off. This happens at 60k and every time after that and swapping the wires plugs fixes it.Unless there is a issue with some other emissions part this normally fixes it.I would remove your egr and clean it with carb cleaner and note the metal gaskets position and dig out the carbon with a brush or flat head screw driver. It has 3 ten mm bolts, one vac line, one electrical plug and mounted below the carburator at a angle. It is about as big as a Baseball roughly.
I'm guessing that you are wanting to know how to get the Check Engine Light to go off. It would be a VERY good Idea to have a qualified shop hook it up and find out WHY it is on and then Fix the problem that your On-board Computer is detecting. Hoipe This Helps.
