Why is the bible split in 2 parts?

Becuase The law was changed by Christ, who fulfilled the old law, and they were separate books for a long time before being compiled together.

Also, the New Testament was before the crucifixion of Christ, and the Old Testament is after...Or was it the New T. was before his birth and the Old T. after.?

I'm actually not quite sure! Sorry. I should know this! I feel so stupid!

Edit: The Old Testament contains stories taken place before Jesus Christ lived on Earth, while the New Testament contains stories of him on Earth and after he was crucified.
