you may have a head gasket leak. And check under your car for fluid leaks. A head gasket leak is serious get it check out immediately.
In the engine compartment, on the left side of the engine is the coolant reservoir. In the coolant reservoir, there is a sensor at the bottom of the reservoir. This sensor is supposed to let you know when you are low on coolant, but can also become defective, and give you a "false-positive" reading. The only way to know this is to check your coolant when the low coolant light comes on. If there is a significant decrease in coolant, you may have a problem in the cooling system , but if you don't, chances are the sensor isn't working. If the sensor is the problem, you can unplug it from the coolant reservoir, by unscrewing the two screws holding the reservoir to the car's inside firewall, then tilting the back of the coolant reservoir forward until you see wiring coming from the bottom of the reservoir, which is the plug for the low coolant sensor. Unplug the sensor, and the low coolant light won't come on anymore. However, you will now have to make sure you check your coolant level in the reservoir on a regular basis.
The check coolant light ( if equipped ) is located between the engine temperature gauge and the tachometer near the bottom . It comes on when the engine coolant reservoir is too low and looks like a box with a radiator on top and has an " X " shaped fan in the box
That is the overflow hose. It comes out at the level of the cap to allow for any extra coolant to escape.
Measures the temperature of the water in your engine block, usually right where the water comes in from the radiator.
Check coolant level Could be thermostat opening and closing due to engine coolant temperature flutuation
turn the car off. let it cool. check the radiator cap and make sure the radiator is full with coolant. also add some to reservoir
When the low coolant warning light comes on and the car has enough coolant, it usually means there is a problem with the coolant level sensor system. The sensor may need to be replaced.
The light is not a coolant light, it is a temperature light which comes on when the temperature of the coolant is above the limits. In other words you engine is overheating. Can be defective thermostat, bad water pump, clogged radiator, or blown head gasket.
Level SensorThe coolant level sensor is known to fail in that the magnet attached to the sensor comes loose and falls to the bottom. These are not repairable, and will require either black tape over the warning light with vigilant monitoring of the levels by you, or replace the tank.See "Related Links" below for moreDisconnect the Sensor approach...The coolant sensor is located in the coolant reservoir bottle. It cannot be serviced, you can only replace the reservoir. However, if just the sensor is bad, you can also try unplugging the sensor at the coolant reservoir bottle. Unscrew the two screws holding the reservoir bottle in place. With the bottle loose, tilt the bottle slightly toward you until you see wiring coming out of the reservoir bottle, that will be the wiring for the sensor plug. Unplug the sensor plug, and reattach the reservoir bottle. The Low Coolant light will not come on anymore, but you will now need to keep tabs on the antifreeze fluid level in the reservoir by occasionally checkingthe fluid level.usually located at rear of the radiator near top--
possibly the water pump
there is a small leak in the hoses or around the outside rim of your radiator
