Inertia switch activated? Look on the interior firewall to the left of the brake pedal and find a rectangular plastic switch. See if the red button is pressed down. Another possibility is a defective fuel pump relay. If you dont hear the pump run briefly when you turn the ignition on, it may be bad.
Clogged fuel filter, defective fuel pump are 2 possibilities.
have you tried looking to see if your your fuel filter is clogged.
If you follow the fuel line from the fuel tank to the engine, you will find the fuel filter.
On the 88 Bronco it should be just above the engine oil filter.

fuel pump or the ignition module needs to be replaced

If the diesel fuel "gels" then yes the filter will need replaced.

You do not need a photo. Just follow the fuel lines from the fuel tank to the engine and you will find the filter. If you find no filter then the filter is a permanent filter inside the fuel tank that is replaced when the fuel pump is replaced.
