Nothing. Mexico's Mainland is connected to the Yucatan peninsula trough the Tehuantepec Isthmus; such peninsula borders both the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. Uh...The Province of New Brunswick.
A nebulous question: The Mexican state of Baja California bounds the United States on the northern side against the states of California (150 miles approx) and Arizona (<40miles) and the Mexican state of Sonora. The boundary between Baja California and the US is an international border with restricted crossings north and south bound. Most of this border area is open desert and rugged terrain. The west side of the peninsula is bounded by the Pacific Ocean and the east side of the peninsula has the Sea of Cortez or Gulfo de California. The peninsula is made up of two Mexican states Baja California in the northern half and Baja California Sur in the southern half. Baja California Sur only borders the northern state of Baja California near the town of Guerrero Negro and the Cedros Islands.
The Gulf of California separates the Baja California Peninsula from most of the rest of Mexico. Note that the peninsula is NOT part of the US state of California. It is part of Mexico.
